Every year, the quaint village green of Theydon Bois comes alive with the joyous sounds of laughter, cheers, and the occasional bray of a donkey - all part of the beloved Donkey Derby. This year marked over three decades of this cherished event, and Butler & Stag was honoured to headline as its proud sponsor.

The Donkey Derby is more than just a day of fun; it's a cornerstone of community spirit, bringing together thousands of locals and visitors alike to support local businesses and raise funds for Theydon Bois Scouts. On this sunny weekend, the village green transformed into a bustling hub of activity, with our team at Butler & Stag joining in the festivities wholeheartedly.

One of the highlights of our involvement was our football penalty shootout, a thrilling competition that drew participants of all ages. The overwhelming success of the shootout meant we quickly ran out of prizes, prompting a hasty trip to our local shop to restock - a testament to the enthusiasm and competitive spirit on display.

We are incredibly proud of our dedicated staff who generously gave up their Sunday to get involved in this wonderful event. Their commitment and enthusiasm were evident as they volunteered on various stalls, sold raffle tickets, and actively engaged with visitors at our own stall, drawing in as many people as possible. Their hard work and friendly faces significantly contributed to the day's success and the vibrant atmosphere of the Donkey Derby.

Throughout the day, the main attraction, the donkey races, captivated the crowd, especially the young children who eagerly cheered on their favorite four-legged participants. Local businesses lined the green, offering everything from delicious BBQ treats to playful games and even a bouncy castle that echoed with joyous laughter.

It was heartwarming to witness so many familiar faces enjoying themselves, creating memories that will surely be talked about until next year's Derby. As the sun set on another successful event, we at Butler & Stag extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who dedicated their time and effort to organizing such a remarkable day.
